Welcome to the children and young people section of the Lambeth Safeguarding Children Board website.

As a child or young person, you have a right to be safe in all environments, for example, at home, school, on the street and even on the internet. It is the role of parents, carers, teachers, learning mentors, doctors, nurses, social workers, police officers, faith leaders and sports coaches to ensure that you are safe from harm.

If something is worrying you or making you scared and you're not sure if it is abuse, it's important to talk to someone you trust.

Children and Young People may be hurt by an adult or another young person in many ways. Abuse can be any of the following: 

• Physical abuse
• Emotional abuse
• Sexual abuse
• Neglect

If you’ve got a problem or are worried about someone, such as a brother or sister, parent or a friend, it can be hard to know what to do. But you don’t have to cope on your own. As a child or young person, you have the right to grow up safe from people hurting you or failing to ensure that you are cared for. All adults have a responsibility to protect you.

What is the Lambeth Safeguarding Children Board?

The Lambeth Safeguarding Children Board (or LSCB in short) makes sure that all organisations work together to promote the safety of children and young people.

The Board is made up of very senior people from housing, social care, schools, education, the police, health and a few other organisations. We check that all these people are thinking about whether or not children and young people are safe.

Lambeth Social Care

If you are worried about your safety or the safety of someone else, you can phone and speak to a social worker at Lambeth Social Care. They are there to listen to what you have to say and will work with other professionals to protect you from harm.

Childline

Star Metro Youth is a free, confidential service for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning young people aged between 13 and 19 in Lambeth. For more information about this service use the link here.

ChatHealth is a confidential school nurse messaging service for young people aged 11-19 years, living or attending school in Lambeth and Southwark. Young people can get advice and support about health related issues by messaging a school nurse Monday to Friday from 9am to 4pm (automatic bounce-backs respond to incoming messages out of hours).
